Renowned Litterateur Chandrasekhar Rath to be crowned with “Sahitya Bharati Samman-2011, 07/03/2012

Renowned litterateur Shri Chandrasekhar Rath will be crowned with the prestigious “Sahitya Bharati Samman-2011″ for his distinguished contributions to Odia literature.

This was announced on Monday by the Gangadhar Rath Foundation Trust, which has been honouring eminent persons in the field of Odia literature every year.
The award carries a cash prize of rupees 1 lakh and a silver statue of the Sun Temple of Konark and a citation.


Shri Rath in his illustrious career, has written many upanishads and poems apart from stories.


The foundation has also announced the name of eminent Odissi dancer, Minati Mishra for the “Gangadhar Rath Smaraki Samman- 2011″. Besides, the Trust has also decided to honour poetess Banaja Devi with “Bhanuji Rao Samman-2011″ which carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000.


Similarly, Noted literary personality Manindra Kumar Meher and story writer Chirashree Indra Singh will share the “Subrat Rath Memorial Award” and each will get a cash prize of Rs 15,000.


The honors will be conferred by Governor, M C Bhandare in a special function at Kala Bikash Kendra, Cuttack on March 18, , Dr. Jayant Rath, Trust President informed.
