AICC general secretary and Odisha in-charge Jagdish Tytler arrives in Bhubaneswar on Saturday morning. He warned dissident party leaders for breaching party discipline. He said no one above party.

Tytler faults dissident MLA not to go to media over party internal affairs. He also criticized them for demanding resignation of PCC Chief Niranjan Patnaik. Earlier dissidence in the State Congress has reached its feverish pitch following a warning by the AICC leader and Odisha in-charge Jagdish Tytler to seven MLAs, the party leadership on Thursday sought to placate the dissent by preparing to hold a marathon meeting of the leaders of PCC and DCC and frontal organisations to find ways to bring about some improvement in the functioning of the party organisation at different levels for better electoral prospects.

In a letter, PCC vice-president Gurupada Nanda has urged chairmen of all frontal wings of the PCC, departmental cell chiefs, all PCC office-bearers and all DCC presidents to positively participate in the discussions at a meeting on May 19 at the party headquarters to thrash out a plan of action for overall improvement in organisational work in their respective areas.

The meeting to be presided over by PCC president Niranjan Patnaik, would be attended by Tytler.

However, stung by Tytler’s warning not to further indulge in indiscipline, some MLAs supporting party vice-president and president aspirant Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra on Thursday demanded Tytler’s resignation as Odisha in-charge, alleging that he had completely failed to galvanise the Congress organisation in the state.

They said that the party failed consecutively in four elections - Umarkote by-election, Kendrapada Municipality election, panchayat polls and, finally, the Athagarh Assembly by-poll– under the leadership of the present PCC chief and his mentor Jagdish Tytler, adding more glee to the heavily tainted Naveen Patnaik government.
On the other hand, PCC chief Niranjan Patnaik said that the young parties MLAs are getting impatient to see change in party fortunes. But it is not possible overnight. Considering the situation of the Congress in the State, it will take some more time to get concrete results, he added.

Patnaik, however, said that the Congress has to demolish the false image Naveen Patnaik and his BJD have created among the people and it will take time.

“To see change in the party’s fate every leader and every worker at each level must work in a right and dedicated manner,” he pointed out.
