Letter to The week : Cover Story “ My name is not red” April 8, 2012

With reference to yours cover story and greatness “ April 8 , 2012 “ MY NAME IS NOT RED”, a child like Juliana Purti has become a victim of Maoist. The irony of our present educational system provided the clues to earn a living without teaching the art of living. Restructuring the system is essential to motivate the students in right directions. The atmosphere in in our day to day live breeds insecurity and frustration. Our youths certainly do not be trapped in negative emotions.

Innocent lives than terrorists over the last few decades. It is now clear that the ultras are fighting neither for an ideology nor for the tribes nor the poor. They are a bunch of power-hungry people who want to keep their dominance over the tribal areas -- the Red Zone -- intact. That is the reason they won't negotiate with the government or put out a clear set of demands. It suits their interest that no development work takes place in tribal areas.

Irony is time and again, Naxals have complained about the failure of Indian govt to address the issue of backwardness and growth in the hinterland and the areas inhabited by Adivasis. It has been claimed that the aborigines of these areas have been oppressed since long and the natural resources have been exploited by a limited few in the country. Now the question arises - do the activities of naxals convince about their seriousness for development of these areas?
