THE SAND ARTIST OF ODISHA SELECTED FOR THE SNOW SCULPTURE CONTEST AT JAPAN 23/01/2012

The 39th International Snow Sculpture Contest will start from 5th Feb-9th Feb at Sopporo. Japan 15 countries like India, Indonesia, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, Taiwan, Daejeon (Korea), New Zealand, Novosibirsk (Russia), Hawaii, Portland (USA), Malaysia, Finland, Hong Kong, Lithuania will be represented in this contest. International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik from Odisha will represent India in this contest.


Pattnaik said I have planned to create a sculpture on climate change. We will show that how the people are suffering from climate change as well as the earth through this snow sculpture. The height of sculpture will be 3 meters and it will take four days to complete this sculpture. Two of my students Jitendra Kishore Jagadev and Bulu Mohanty will assist me to crate this sculpture. Pattnaik has already participated twice in the year 2002 & 2007 at sopporo snow festival.


He has represented India in 47 international sand sculpture championship and festivals around the world and won many prizes including World championship title at Berlin. He is running a sand art institute in Golden beach of Puri, Odisha.
