ODISHA NEWS:

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD)on Sunday has urged the State Election Commission (SEC) to ban the manifesto published by the Congress for the coming Panchayat polls.

The manifesto contained serious charges of corruptions levelled against 14 Ministers of BJD, including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in various cases like the “man-made floods” during September and October last year, “multi-crore mining scam”, “dal scam under mid-day meal scheme”, “violation of forest and environment laws and irregularities in the works department” and “shielding the accused in rape and murder cases”.

BJD General Secretary Narendra Kumar Swain, in a letter to the SEC said, “The preparation and release of the manifesto by the Congress was a gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the document should be banned and seized immediately to ensure fair poll practices.”

Adding more he demanded that strong action should be taken against the Congress for releasing the manifesto with false and baseless allegations against the BJD ministers.
