ODISHA NEWS:

MindTree Limited, a global IT and Product Engineering Services Company, started work on its 20-acre campus, to be named MindTree Kalinga, as a part of the Chandaka Special Economic Zone in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

At an impressive ceremony today, students from various local educational institutions poured earth specially brought in from many different places in the world at the base of a Krishna Ficus tree at the proposed site. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik consecrated the event by pouring earth from the State. Welcoming MindTree to Odisha, the Chief Minister said “When high quality organizations come to the state, apart from helping the economy, there is a cascading effect on the intellectual eco-system. We welcome MindTree as our newest corporate citizen”.

Subroto Bagchi, vice chairman of MindTree commended several government agencies like the Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha and the Odisha Computer Application Centre for getting MindTree Kalinga off the ground. “MindTree believes Odisha is the emerging hub of the east. We are looking forward to building a world-class centre here that will train and deploy some of the best minds of the eastern region. We will engage with the academic community here to create a vibrant eco-system.”

Bangalore’s reputed architects, Chandavarkar & Associates have designed the 20-acre campus taking a cue from the ancient architectural principles behind local temples and applied them to a modern design. The campus is being built in a phase-wise manner and the first phase of 200,000 square feet will be completed in 2013.
