Odisha Govt heading to set up multi skill development training center 08/05/2012

Having set the target of training 1 million youths in various employable skills in coming five years, Govt has now initiated steps for establishment of international standard Multi Skill Development Centers ( MDC) in the state.
A high level meeting to this effect has been held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik in secretariat conference hall today. The proposal for setting up of MDCs in the state was discussed in the meeting. There is a need of such centers in Odisha in backdrop of growing industrialization and commercial activities.
It has been decided that two such centers one at Jatani Khurda and the other at Berhampur, Ganjam will be set up in coming years. Chief Secretary has advised Employment and Technical Education Department to intensify activities in this direction. The meeting has also decided that such centers will be developed in association with German Technological expertise aids. The proposal for up gradation of 14 ITIs covered under PPP scheme at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Takatpur, Baripada, Anandapur, Barbil,Chhatrapur, Umarkote, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Boudh, Bolangir and Khariar Road with technical expertise from German Technical aids was also discussed in the meeting. The possibility of utilizing their consultancy for developing newly coming up Government ITIs and Poly-techniques in Gajpati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Deogarh and Sambalpur also figured in discussions.
It may be of worth mention that 2 nos. German multi Skill Development Centers are now successfully operating in the state of Karnataka- one at Bangalore and other at Gulberga. Those institutes are imparting training in skills like Automotive Mechatronics, Advanced Wielding, Electronics Design & Manufacturing, Industrial automation, Construction Technology, Tool Room & Training Center, Electrical & Electronics Maintenance, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning and IT.
A team of experts from Odisha have already visited those institutes to have a feed back from them. Chief Secretary Sri Patnaik has advised Director Technical Education to select the skills suitable for Odisha , work out all the technical details and present to Govt for necessary approval. The Development Commissioner R.N.Senapati, Pr.Secretary Finance J.K.Mohapatra, Pr. Secretary Revenue & Disaster management Taradatt, Head, CIPET P.C.Padhi along with other senior officials participated in discussions.
