International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik got Honourary Doctorate in LLD on the occasion of 17th convocation of Berhampur University for his contribution in sand art. This honour is presented by Hon'ble Governor of Odisha Sri Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare at BU campus. On this occasion Dr Syed S Hameed, Planning Commission member also present there as the chief guest.


Including Sudarsan 10 other eminent persons have got the degree of Honour, they are Mohini Giri, Arun Jaitly, Dr Syed S Hammed, Iqbal Chagla, Pinaki Misra, Chandrabhanu Satpathy, Soumayranjan Patnaik , Sidhanta Mohapatra and Dr Kabiprasad Mishra.

I am very much happy to get this Honour and I will always try to achieve more in the field of sand art for our country, said Sudarsan.

35 year old Sudarsan Patnaik has represented India in more than 50 international sand sculpture championships across the world and won many prizes including the World Championship in 2008, for the country. He is doing sand sculptures since last 20 years and running a sand art school at puri beach.
