THE GREAT MARWAR FESTIVAL CONCLUDES WITH A FESTIVE NOTES WITH HUGE POMP AND GLORY 12/04/2012

The four-day Marwar Mahotsav concluded, with performances by small screen celebrities, singers and folk dancers. People thronged the Indian Public School ground in Khetrajpur to witness performances on the last evening.
Rajasthani traditional dance and songs by Deepali Sathe of Saregamapa fame enthralled the audience on the concluding day. Deepali made the audience dance to her songs.
Small screen celebrities such as Khayali Saran and Suresh Albela of Laughter Challenge fame, Rashmi Desai from television serial Uttaran, Prince dance group from Berhampur, Raja Hasan group from Mumbai and Veena dance group also performed.
Chowki Dhani, Chakri dance, Bhawani dance, Cherry dance, Kalveria dance, Kachhhi Ghodi, puppet show, nutt dance, Dhol dance, bi-scope were the major attractions of the festival. People got the opportunity see the traditional dance and culture of Marwar. The food of Marwar was the major attraction of the festival. People were seen queuing up at the food kiosks. “The people of Sambalpur witnessed the confluence of cultures. Moreover, the presence of stars from the small screen made the festival attractive,” said Bhawani Mishra, a visitor.
“We also got glimpses of the art, culture and traditions of Marwar. We could also know about their hospitality, attire and cuisine. I am really happy that such a festival was organized in Sambalpur,” he said.
Marwari Yuva Manch of Khetrajpur, in association with the Sambalpur district administration, had organized the festival.
“The festival was an effort to attract the youth towards our culture and tradition. Apart from the shows by the celebrities, the traditional dances and songs were organized to popularize folk culture,” said Parag Agrawal, president of Marwari Yuva Manch of Khetrajpur branch.
