ODISHA NEWS:
An inter-ministerial group of the Union Ministry of Steel will take up a detailed discussion on March 14 on the constraints in the way of progress of the POSCO steel plant project at Paradip along with other proposed steel plants in Odisha and other four States.
In a letter to Chief Secretary Bijay Patnaik, copies of which have also been sent to Chief Secretaries of said four States, the Steel Ministry has said the meeting has been convened as the Central Government is worried over the tardy or almost no-progress in the proposed steel units worth thousands of crores of direct foreign investment, sources said.
The sources also said the meeting will also deliberate over certain queries and concerns of the investors who are worried that uncertainties might mar the prospects of their investment.
While the Posco company has raised doubts as to the Government’s sincerity in an atmosphere of local resistance and the Government trying to avoid a ‘path of friction’ before taking any step against the wishes of the local people.
