In a major relief to Odisha Government, Maoists release Italian Tourist Claudio Colangelo in Sunday morning after 12 days. Maoists leader Sabyasachi Panda handed over Claudio Colangelo to representative of Media at Daringbadi. This was informed by local TV channels.


It should be noted that Maoists abducted two Italian tourists Paolo Bosusco and Claudio Colangelo on 14th March. It should be noted two interlocutors nominated by the CPI(Maoist), B D Sharma and Dandapani Mohanty yesterday appeals Maoists to release all the hostage. Social activist and former bureaucrat Dr B D Sharma and Dandapani Mohanty negotiating on behalf of the ultras negotiating with government interlocutors.


But on Saturday the talks between the government and the Maoist-nominated negotiators put off temporarily adding a dramatic twist to the 10-day-old incident. The discussions between the three higher government officials and two CPI (Maoist) representatives which began on Thursday evening took a dramatic turn after the kidnapping of Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka by the left wing extremists in Koraput today.


The two interlocutors nominated by the CPI(Maoist), B D Sharma and Dandapani Mohanty have asked the naxalites to first release the three hostages including Jhina Hikaka for continuation of the dialogue between the two sides. The two negotiators also condemned the kidnapping of Laxmipur MLA.
