OPSC PETITIONED GOVENOR TO INTERVENE IN THE SENSATIONAL PIPLI RAPE CASE 17/01/2012

The Odisha Pradesh Student Congress (OPSC) has petitioned the Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare to intervene on the issues such as Bhadrak, Pipili and Cuttack rape cases involving murder, molestation and harassment.

They demanded that the State Government should take appropriate steps immediately and provide protection to women and girl students. The cases should undergo CBI inquiry.
OPSC President Chinmoy Kumar Sahoo, in a statement on Tuesday said that, gang-rape cases are increasing at an alarming mode as recently four rape cases came to light after media intervention.

Sahoo demanded that State Government should take immediate action to give justice to the victims. The organisation also demanded rejection of bail petitions of rape case criminals and imposition of rigorous punishment for the culprits, registering a case against the MLA of Pipili, Pradeep Maharathi who has been accused for supporting the illegitimate during this process, institution of criminal proceedings against the Pipili IIC for not accepting FIR and not taking further action to nab the culprits and protection for the victims and her family.

OPSC demanded harsh actions against the Superintendent of Police, Puri. Moreover pointing at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, they demanded his resignation, claiming that he is not able to assess the situation in the right direction.
