NATIONAL KHARAVELA MAHOTSAV KICKED OFF IN THE CAPITAL CITY OF ODISHA 31/01/2012

The 10th Annual National Kharavela Mahotsav kicked off at the foot hills of Khandagiri on Monday.
The festival was inaugurated by His Excellency Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Shri M C Bhandare.

The evening started with Odissi dance performance by the members of city-based Surabhi Dance Group. The next attraction of the evening was Odissi dance performance by Dasabhuja Gotipua Odissi Dance Academy, Raghurajpur. The evening also witnessed Bharatnatyam performance by Rahul.

Next, Pratima Barley Pandavini performed Ghumura Dance. The last performance of the evening was the tribal dance of Gujrat named ‘Dangi’.
The week long cultural festival is being hosted by the Kalu Nanda Memorial Trust and supported by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata, Song and Drama Division of Government of India and Orissa Government.

Apart from this about 50 stalls of handloom and handicrafts items were also displayed.
Among others, Shri Ajit Tripathy, State Election Commissioner, Orissa, Shri B L Bagra, Nalco CMD, Shri Dilip Kumar Nanda, Chairman of Kalu Nanda Memorial Trust were present.
